Don’s love for communication started early while watching baseball broadcasts and listening to AM radio beaming to western Pennsylvania from far-away Chicago.
He scrawled his first newspaper copy in response to Watergate but it never made it past the kitchen trash can.
In college, short-story writing, journalism, and playwriting were his pursuits in addition to writing news copy during two radio station internships.
From his first job as a radio news reporter, he moved to writing anecdotal multi-cultural tales in print and spent 22 years writing, producing, and voicing radio spots that featured global issues and humanitarian needs.
Don also managed a nonprofit organization and used media and strategic partnerships to expand the program from a one-county service area in Southern California to a three-county service area in 3 language groups.
He earned a Master’s degree in Communication Management from the Annenberg Schoool of the University of Southern California to integrate his creative strengths with managerial knowledge.
He credits his personal life as an adoptive dad and guardian of six children and as a soccer referee for enhancing his skill in conflict management.
