Steve Sugarman believes in flexible lending policies

Steve Sugarman says the regional banks that worked closely with small businesses disappeared after the recent credit crisis. He says Banc of California is poised to fill the niche and will lend $5 billion in 2013.

The Banc of California is tapping into communities around Southern California and Steve Sugarman told me the institution is far more flexible in its lending policies than the mega-banks like Wells Fargo and Chase.

Banc of California recently hired Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to tap into the neighborhood leadership structures around LA.
